# Magic links

> Let contacts log in to your portal with secure, one-time links sent in email notifications.

Magic links allow contacts to securely log in to your portal with a single click, with no passwords required. When contacts receive email notifications, these links automatically authenticate them and direct them to relevant content like invoices or contracts. The links expire after three days or one use, whichever comes first, balancing accessibility with security.

You can manually distribute magic links through the **CRM**, **Billing**, and **Contracts** applications. We recommend enabling magic links for a more seamless and modern contact experience. Existing authentication methods like Google OAuth or password login remain available.

## Enabling magic links for your workspace

To activate this feature:

1. Navigate to **Settings** > **Contact Authentication**.
2. Toggle on **Enable Magic Links**.
3. All subsequent contact notifications will include magic links.

  Magic links are not enabled by default for existing workspaces created before April 9, 2025. Workspaces established after that date have this feature enabled automatically.

## Sending magic links from the CRM

From the **CRM** interface, you can distribute magic links by:

1. Accessing the **CRM** page.
2. Selecting **Contacts** or **Companies**.
3. Opening the target contact's details or clicking the menu icon.
4. Choosing **Email Magic Link** or **Copy Magic Link**.

  Company-level magic links are not available. Links must be sent to individual contacts within a company.

## Sending magic links from the Billing app

For invoices:

1. Open the **Billing** app.
2. Navigate to the **Invoices** tab.
3. Find the relevant invoice.
4. Click the menu and select **Copy payment link**.

## Sending magic links from the Contracts app

For pending contracts:

1. Access the **Contracts** app.
2. Locate a pending contract request.
3. Click the menu and select **Copy eSign link**.

## What contacts see

Valid, unexpired links take contacts directly to the requested page without requiring login. Expired or previously-used links display a page where contacts can request a fresh link be sent to their email address.
