# Contact direct sign up

> Let contacts self-serve create accounts and automate onboarding.

## Overview

Contact direct sign up lets contacts self-serve create accounts. This feature works well for companies wanting to add a Sign Up button to their marketing website while automating the onboarding process.

The functionality pairs effectively with automations. After a user self-serves to sign up, you can trigger actions like sending messages, assigning onboarding forms, or other workflows.

## Impact on portal authentication pages

When enabled, a **Sign Up** page becomes accessible on your portal. Additionally, a **Don't have an account?** link shows on your **Log In** page directing users to the **Sign Up** page.

## Enable contact direct sign up

1. Go to **Settings > General** and verify that **Allow contact user direct sign up** is enabled.

## Add a sign up button on your marketing website

1. With contact direct sign up enabled, visit **Settings > General** to copy the link to your portal **Sign Up** page. If you're setting up a custom domain, complete that first since the link will update accordingly.
2. Place a **Sign up** button on your marketing website navbar linking to this URL.
